Final Project Idea

05 Nov 2019

Students who are going to university often has a difficult time deciding on what kind of food they would like on any given day. There doesn’t appear to be a centralized area where all of the dining options are readily available. Therefore, we would like to construct a web app, where students are able to find where all of the food is located, the menus that they offer, and the prices that they have.

This web app would include a map of the UH manoa campus, and the location of all the stationary restaurants are placed on the map. There should also be a feature where you can go into first person mode, and get specific instructions on which route to take in order to get to certain places (since they can be difficult to locate based solely on a map in the eagle eye view). We would also like to add a feature where the web app is able to display the location of the food trucks.

The user should be able to hover over the different locations, and a display of the general cuisine should be available to the user, as well as several popular food items, and the prices that they are offered at. Upon choosing a place to eat, the user should be able to view the menu options based on different options. For example, if the user wants to find the cheapest meal items on the menu, then they should be able to view that. Or the most expensive (if they are celebrating).

There can be different functions for different types of users. There are students, who are able to save their favorite locations, their preferences on what to buy, and possibly preordering food. There are also food trucks and other food establishments who may want to promote new food items, and other things. There are also guests who simply want a quick way to find a place to eat.

This app should also be accompanied by a mobile app, since most students would generally want a portable map of the place that they want to eat, and would generally be more convenient than lugging your laptop all around campus while you try to find someplace to eat.
